New Beginnings

'In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” '

Matthew 3:1-2

Dear Journey Family…

Repentance and New Beginnings

In Matthew 3:1-2, we encounter the story of John the Baptist who says (paraphrasing) "Hey, change your ways, because the kingdom of heaven is right here!" Repentance is a powerful action that involves acknowledging our inability to do things correctly, taking responsibility for our mistakes, turning away from them, and seeking forgiveness. It is a call to change our ways and adopt a new, righteous path.

Repentance is closely connected to new beginnings, giving us an opportunity to leave behind our past errors and embark on a transformative journey. It opens the door to forgiveness, reconciliation, and starting anew. When we genuinely repent, we can experience the joy and freedom that comes with embracing an entirely new way of life when we surrender our will in faith to our Lord Jesus.

As we contemplate the new year, repentance, and new beginnings, let's challenge ourselves to reflect on our own lives. Are there any areas where we need to take responsibility and seek forgiveness? Are there any habits or attitudes that need to be changed? Embracing repentance may not be easy or comfortable, but it is a necessary step towards personal growth and drawing closer to our Lord. Let's embrace the opportunity to start afresh and walk the righteous path He has set before us.

Steve Hoyt to Liberia

Steve Hoyt’s Mission Trip to Liberia

This Sunday, we will be sharing about Steve's trip to Liberia and taking some time to pray for him, his team, and his trip.

Steve Hoyt, along with his team "Psalm 82:3 Missions" (based in Lexington, Kentucky), will be traveling to Monrovia, Liberia on the west coast of Africa from January 16th to January 27th, 2024. The team, led by Matt Lee, consists of approximately 20 members.

One of the objectives of this trip is to provide instruction on the use of the white cane to visually impaired individuals in the village. Please keep Steve and the team in your prayers for their safety, and pray that the Lord will work through them to demonstrate His love and compassion to the people of Liberia. It is our hope that many will come to know Christ as their Savior through this mission.

Business Meeting

Join us on January 14 for our annual beginning-of-the-year business meeting, which will take place during our morning service.

This important event provides an opportunity for us to present and discuss our goals and plans for the upcoming year, reflect on the accomplishments and challenges of the previous year, and allow all members to come together, ask questions, and contribute to the work and mission at Journey Church.

We sincerely hope you can attend and look forward to seeing you there!

SouperBowl ‘24

Join us at church on February 11 for our Super Bowl themed meal, "Souperbowl '24"! After the morning service, we will serve delicious soup for lunch. It's a wonderful opportunity to eat, socialize, and invite your friends and family to join in the fun. We can't wait to see you there!

That’s all we have for now - it’s your turn to let us know what your thoughts are.
