The Wisdom of Proverbs

'The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. '

Proverbs 1:7

Dear Journey Family…

Welcome to our first newsletter of the year! 2024 already and, as every new year, it is a time for fresh beginnings and new opportunities. It is also a time for reflection and wisdom in the choices we make.

As someone said “there are bad choices - avoid those; there are good choices - consider those; and there is the best choice - aim for that. The difference between bad choices and good choices can be tricky at times but in general we know how to avoid bad choices. The trick is with good choices and the best choice. Especially in our spiritual life. That’s when we need the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the example of Christ and the help of the Father to take us by the hand and walk with us to his will.

Let us seek his wisdom in the year ahead, making decisions that align with his will and bring us closer to what he has planned for us.

May this year be a year of victory and growth for each and every one of us. Stay tuned for more updates and insights in our upcoming newsletters.

Steve Hoyt to Liberia

Steve Hoyt’s Mission Trip to Liberia

We are excited to share that Steve Hoyt will be embarking on a mission trip to Liberia from January 16th to January 27th, 2024. Steve will be joining the team '“Psalm 82:3 Missions” based in Lexington, Kentucky. They will be traveling to Monrovia, Liberia, located on the west coast of Africa. The team consists of approximately 20 members, led by Matt Lee.

During this impactful trip, Steve's role will involve instructing visually impaired individuals in the village on how to use the white cane. We kindly request your prayers for their safety and that the Lord will work through them to demonstrate His love and compassion to the people of Liberia. It is our hope that many individuals will come to know Christ as their Savior and Lord through this mission.

Ultimately, Steve’s desire is for God to be glorified.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support.

Proverbs x 12

Proverbs times twelve. That is our Bible reading challenge this year. We hope you can join us. We are reading the book of Proverbs once a month. 31 chapters in Proverbs. That is one chapter a day. Some months it might be two chapters the last day of the month or so. Then meditate on what you read the rest of the day. Gain wisdom. Repeat the next day.

But if you want to do a completely different type of Bible reading this year, go ahead. Maybe you are still finishing last year’s. That’s ok. You can then jump on this plan whenever you are done. The point is this: spend time in God’s word. It is food for our soul. A lamp onto our feet. Don’t miss out on the blessing of reading God’s word.

If you are interested in joining us, click HERE.

That’s all we have for now - it’s your turn to let us know what your thoughts are.

If you have anything that we can help with in prayer, please let us know.

We’d love to pray with you and for you.

Email us at info@journeychurchcolumbus.org.

And until next time, thanks for reading!
